The 2016 Tokyo Best Restaurants Poll

Update January 2017: Cafe The 6BT has closed, permanently, it appears.

A fair amount of change in our annual poll compared to last year, but also some stability. T's Tantan and Nagi Shokudo have retained their high rankings. Hangout (sadly) closed down, as did Pure Cafe, and Eat More Greens went over to the dark side (=is no longer a veg restaurant). Ainsoph.Journey fell from grace, only to be replaced by the new AinSoph.Ripple. Eightablish and Cafe the 6BT both improved their rankings (they were fairly new at the time of the 2015 poll.)

Candidates were first chosen based on an open inquiry. All those that got more than 2 mentions were included in the ranking. As Facebook allows only ten options for a poll, the tombola method was used to select candidates from those that had only two mentions.

Due to human error (mine, the author's, to be precise), La Jolla, a Mexican joint in Hiroo, didn't make it into the top-10. La Jolla is an omni restaurant not particularly catering to veg*ns and has numerous meat dishes on the menu. Vegetarians who don't mind the rennet that's presumably in their cheese may find sufficient options here.
